Does anyone know how to change the Document Map root text? - DISPLAYNAME property

hi, guys
Does anyone know how to change the Document Map root text? For example, i have report, the file name is sc.rdl, and then the root is sc. Apparently this is not good. I am thinking is there a way to change it.If you are using the ReportViewer controls in VS 2005, set DisplayName on either ReportViewer.LocalReport or ReportViewer.ServerReport, depending on the mode you are using. Setting DisplayName will also affect the generated file name for export. If you are connecting to the server directly via url access or using Report Server 2000, there is no way to change this value.|||

Brian, I want to be able to assign displayname at report design time....then be able to extract it out for display purposes when using the reportviewer control connecting to a server report. Doesn't sound like it's possible but is this something for a future enhancement. Currently, using the report viewer control, there's limited properties exposed when using ReportViewer.ServerReport.<property>. Would be nice to get at the author, description, etc. (and have an additional displayname property available).

Does anyone have any ideas ..

.. on making a DB map?
Hopefully someone knows of a tool/util.
Here's where I'm coming from:
We have a list of changes to make to our DB and the PHP interface.
I'd like to put together a list (map) of every table referenced on
each php page, as well as one showing every php page which uses each
table.
I'd like to have this as a reference so that when we bring in a
programmer, they can work more efficiently and be less likely to
create bugs.
Any ideas?
-MoDo you mean an ERD? How about using the diagram tool built into SQL Server.
If you are on 2000 it can be found in Enterprise Manage and if 2005 in SSMS.

document map works in preview but not in browser

Hi,
I have a strange issue - the document map works in preview mode but not when
used in the browser. No doubt this is a configuration issue in IE, but I
can't find it. Any ideas?
TIA,
Paul IbisonCan you be more specific? What do you mean it doesn't work? Do you get an
error when you click on a node in the doc map tree? Do you get an error in
the document map frame? Is the document map not showing up at all?
What version of IE are you using?

I accidentally created a document map and would like to remove it but I can

Document map pane refreshing ENTIRE page!

I am using the ReportViewer control with SRS2005. I have an extremely large report (243 pages) - however. It takes an extremely long time to load the report as well as populate the document map pane.

When one clicks a link in the document map pane, it refreshes the entire page - and thus causes the report to take another 2-3min to repopulate the document map.

However, if I were to access the Report Server directly, clicking a link only causes the main content page to be refreshed.

This is a substantial difference between selectively refreshing as opposed to refreshing the ENTIRE page and hence taking 2-3min between links.

I am defining the report as:

<rsweb:ReportViewer ID="rvMain" runat="server" AsyncRendering="true" ProcessingMode="Remote" ShowParameterPrompts="False" OnPageNavigation="rvMain_PageNavigation" Width="100%" Height="800px" DocumentMapCollapsed="False" DocumentMapWidth="300px">
</rsweb:ReportViewer>

Hi,

Have you found a solution to this issue?

From my investigation, it seems that the problem is caused by using the OnPageNavigation event, since when removing it (in my case) the document map behavior does not reproduce.

I also found cases where the toggle functionality stoped working as of catching the OnPageNavigationEvent, after installing SQL 2005 SP1.

To me it looks like a bug in the web version ReportViewer control.

Document map on Mac

I have seen other posts which indicate issues with the document map
and issues with reporting output in general on the Mac. However, I
haven't seen that anyone is having the specific problem I am having.
I have a report which uses a document map. It works perfectly in IE
6.0 on a PC when rendered as HTML or PDF. The report displays as HTML
(but not PDF) on the Mac in both IE and Safari, however the document
map does not display. This functionality is crucial for me. My main
concern for this particular client is making this document map work
with IE on the Mac whether that be in HTML or PDF. I should note
that, long term, I expect to see reports work in both browsers on the
Mac.
So my question is specifically:
Has anyone succeeded in displaying the document map in a report
rendered as HTML or PDF in IE on a Macintosh running OS 9 or OS 10,
latest release of IE.I have more information which I am sharing with anyone else who is
having this problem. The HTML output seems to use an IFrame. The
IFrame is supported in IE 5.2.3 for the Mac and it is also supported
in Safari. So, I still don't know why the document map doesn't show
up in HTML.
However, the PDF problem was with the Preview application in the Mac.
By default, PDF files are opened by Preview, even when they are opened
from a web page. I have opened other PDF 1.3 files from the web with
Preview without any problems. However, for some reason, Preview could
not open my reports generated from SQLRS. I was able to use the
Finder, Get Info feature on the Mac to tell the OS to open PDF files
with Adobe Reader 6.0 instead of Preview. So, I can now provide a
solution for reports, including a document map(Bookmarks in a PDF), on
the Mac.
I would still prefer to use HTML, which is faster, and does not
require a 2nd window to open.

Document Map not displaying for some users.

I have noticed that with some users the document map pane is empty,
whereas on my machine and others it displays as it should. Has anyone
seen this behavior before and how do you think I could resolve this?Ok, I figured it out.
With reporting services 2000, the document maps do not appear
correctly with users running IE7. There is a hotfix you can download
from Microsoft's site to resolve this.

Document Map not appearing in Web Application

I have designed a report and everything is fine except when I view it in my vb.net application. When I view the report through the normal Reporting Services portal my document map appears fine without issue. However when I run it through my application the document map does not appear and the button is not available.

Here is the setup

I have a sql table that stores

* ReportID
* Title
* Keywords
* Serverpath

I then have an aspx page that simply has the webform report viewer with the following code. So I have a data grid populated from the reportinfo table with a Link on each title that passes the ServerPath to the reportviewer page. The URL that is genereated after I recently added the commands to the end of my report path through suggestion of another forum and that still didn't resolve the issue. Anyone out there have any suggestions on how to get the document map to show in the reportviewer webform?

The only thing I can think of is it has 3 parameters is there something special I am missing?

URL Genereated

http://perfectassistant.director-software.com/adminpages/reports/reportviewer.aspx?Path=/PAData/Student%20Information/Member%20Ensemble%20Listing%20Report&rc:Toolbar=True&rc:DocMap=true&rc:Area=Report

Page Load Code

Protected Sub Page_Load(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Me.Load

If Not IsPostBack Then

Dim rptPath As String

rptPath = Request("Path")

Dim rs As New ReportingService

ReportViewer1.ServerReport.ReportServerCredentials = New ReportViewerCredentials("USERNAME", "PASSWORD", "")

ReportViewer1.ServerReport.ReportServerUrl = New Uri("http://SERVERNAME.com/reportserver")

ReportViewer1.AsyncRendering = False

ReportViewer1.ShowDocumentMapButton = True

ReportViewer1.DocumentMapCollapsed = False

ReportViewer1.ServerReport.ReportPath = rptPath

End If

End Sub

Document Maps don't show when you have the HTML viewer control set to AsyncRendering=false.

See this article for an explanation why (it has to do with the fact that we don't use frames):

Document Map Label

I have a Report that has a document map Label in the Report which I need to remove.
However as the report has over 50 text-boxes I am having difficulty locating it.
I have had a look at the XML but that does not seem to indicate the offending text box.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Chaps

I have resolved the issue.
Searched and removed <Label> Tags from XML Definition.

It's blindingly obvious when you know the solution.

Document map icon disappears!

Has anyone experienced this? One of our users cannot see the Document Map
icon on any report he views.
Clearly this is an issue with his browser or O/S or how his system is

Any pointers to what might be causing this greatly appreciated.

Document Map Formatting

Does anyone know if it is possible to control the formatting of the Document Map in SSRS? I would like to set the background color if possible.

I'm not sure what you mean by "Document Map". Are you just asking how to set the background color of a report?

On the layout tab, right click the background grid (body) of the report. Click properties then change the background color in the properties window.

|||If you edit the properties of a table or a matrix group you have options for Document map label and Parent Group. These attributes draw the Document Map dynamically. At runtime the map is a plain black font on white background and it does not take on the properties of the report body.|||I'm not sure you can Ben, the style is controlled by a style sheet:

Document Map for Excel

I've created a document map which displays a text string as the bookmark label (Document map label) when exporting to PDF (e.g. "January 2004", "March 2004"). However, when exporting to Excel, the tabs are named "Sheet1", "Sheet2", etc.

Is it possible to configure a report such that the tab names when exported to excel match the labels used in PDF?Excel worksheets (tabs) are a completely different concept than PDF bookmarks.
Excel worksheets are created based on the pages in the report. Support for providing specific names for Excel worksheets (i.e. report sections) is under consideration for a future release.

Document Map Bug

I am findng that when I add a document map and then later remove it that it
is still appearing in my reports...Is the report still in session? When you make a change to remove the
document map, I take it that you are re-deploying the report? Try closing
all the browser windows and then open a new browser window and view the
report. - Does the document map still appear?
I think the design descision was taken that once you render the report that
you are woking with a copy of the report in that browser session - and that
then allows changes to occur to the underlying report RDL - without it
affecting your session...
